West End Will is Book Two of the Life Force Preserve series. If you have read Book One, the trajectory of the story may fall into place easier than if you grabbed this book first. While it can be read first, the story may not fall into place as quickly for a reader.
I had not read Book One, so it took longer for me to understand why a drunkard named Will Norwick was so important to the story. Over time you learn why he is such a mess, and why he is so important to the world.
Just as you begin to see that he is a target who has been right all along, the focus of the story changes. You learn that there is an ongoing situation where a nonhuman group known as the Astargarians or Stags for short have decided to take over humankind by killing as many as possible with a virus.
A secret government group has been tracking the Stags to try and stop them. They have found out that some humans are a hybrid human breed that can provide an antidote to the virus. Will Norwick is one of those hybrids.
This government group goes by the name of Life Force. It is up to a team of Secret life Force agents to round up and protect every hybrid they can find. This mission includes Will and everyone close to him.
So the shift in focus from Will to the team of agents begins in the second part of the book. The shift in focus might seem somewhat abrupt for the reader. There are only three major clues that the story is going to take a wide turn: the book prologue, chapter…
